- Values are copied exactly as printed by the City ("Value of the project (VAT incl)"), including its own spacing and commas. We do not estimate or total them.
- The City's 2026 lists are short: February, May, June, July and August are published, with one or two tenders each. One extra award (firefighting foam) appears only in the City's April–June 2026 quarterly report. No lists were found for January, March, April or September.
- Only formal tenders in these City lists are covered, not quotations or the City's separate entities (such as Johannesburg Water).
- These PDFs cannot be read reliably by software, so we copied each row by hand. Please check the linked PDF and report errors.
- Company registration numbers are shown as the City prints them. Being listed is not an accusation of wrongdoing. Corrections: support@mkweli.tech.
Family links the City itself disclosed
Possible link: to verify. This is not a finding of wrongdoing. The law (Municipal Supply Chain Management Regulation 45) requires the City to disclose awards to a spouse, child or parent of a person in the service of the state. Making that disclosure is not an irregularity, and the people named are not accused of anything.
Source: City of Johannesburg Group Annual Financial Statements for the year ended 30 June 2025, Note 51 "Awards to close family members of persons in the service of the state", PDF pages 157–161. Names, companies, roles and amounts are copied exactly as the City prints them, including spelling. Amounts are in R'000 (thousands of rand), for the 2025 and 2024 financial years. "-" means none was printed.
None of the seven 2026 Johannesburg awards listed below matches a company in Note 51. This box is the City's own disclosure, shown on its own. It is a selection of the clearest rows. Some blocks in the note (for example GIBB and Bowmans) list many names next to many roles with no clear pairing, so we left them out. See the PDF for the full note.

Why city by city
South Africa has no single complete list of who won public tenders. National Treasury's eTenders portal shows the winner for only about 1 in 5 finished tenders (Awardee count, 12 October 2026), and municipalities are not obliged to share data with Treasury.
Done: City of Cape Town, City of Ekurhuleni, City of Johannesburg, Mangaung, Buffalo City, Nelson Mandela Bay. State-owned companies done: Eskom, Transnet, SANRAL. No current list: we found no regular official 2026 award list for Tshwane or eThekwini (Durban). That gap is itself a finding.
